Special Events Volunteers make our fundraisers a reality. For further information about a particular event, please read about the event below: Adopt-a-Puppet Kids on the Block would like you to consider becoming an important member of the troupe. Our “kids” need loving “parents” to care for them and watch them grow. Those “kids” already with us are eager to share their experiences with children. And the homeless “kids” still in Maryland, would eventually like to find families in our community. You can become an adopting “parent” easily. You may choose a “kid” or a group of “kids”(a puppet or an entire program) that is of interest to you, your organization, or your place of business. Your support will allow the “kids” stories to reach children all over the state. Each Kids on the Block puppet represents a separate issue or topic, such as a child with learning challenges or a child with juvenile diabetes. Each puppet (and topic area) is adopted by a community sponsor for one year. The value of puppets and programs depends on the length of the program, program complexity, and the number of characters involved in the production of the program topic. Costs for program sponsorship range between $250.00 and $3,300.00.
Garden Tour and Tea June 19, 2010 The Garden Tour & Tea is an annual event when community members tour area gardens and attend a lovely afternoon tea. When you purchase tickets for the event, you receive a booklet displaying the beautiful gardens, a map of the tour and ads from local businesses. Sponsorships for this event include placing ads in the garden tour booklet and donating items for the tea. Southern Foods has been a tremendous help ensuring this event’s success. For the 2007 event, those who pre-register will have the opportunity to get tickets to a Western Symphony or a Bowling Green Chamber Orchestra concert. Twilight Thunder Cruise Our newest fundraiser is the Kids on the Block Twighlight Thunder Cruise. Event registration begins at Harley-Davidson Bowling Green at 5:30pm and the cruise begins at 6:30. The police-escorted, non-stop motorcycle parade will wind up at the new Circus Square in downtown Bowling Green. Come out to the park and enjoy live music, food and fun! Entertainment for the cruise will be provided by Cootie Brown. A big thank you goes out to RC Components for their sponsorship of the event.
Scotty’s Contracting and Stone's Festival of Sand Bowling Green's biggest and best beach party, Scotty's Contracting and Stone's Festival of Sand includes games, music, food, and tons of sand and fun! With sandsational sculptures, entertainment and fun activities, competing teams raised funds to bring cost-free Kids on the Block programs to area schools. A special thank you goes to Mike Law and Scotty's Contracting and Stone for making this event possible. Mike's tireless dedication and support to Kids on the Block is what makes this fundraiser continue to grow. 2010's Event will be September 10th!
